Are the free classified ad sites losing members here in Newfoundland? It’s difficult to judge but in looking at the trends on several of the free classified ad sites, it has become evident that ads tend to be reappearing after a few days and the same people are posting duplicate ads on the same site.
Is this an indication that members are not seeing successes or are people just that desperate to sell their items?
A quick search of the free online classified sites here in Newfoundland shows that there are many items the same across all the classified systems. It’s eviden that these people are hoping for more exposure for their items and in some cases this is working.
The largest site, NLClassifieds is obviously seeing an increase in traffic from people viewing ads, but the number of people selling seems to have dropped. NLDeals is showing an increase in traffic but its security measures limits traffic to only those people in Newfoundland. Kijiji Canada has many visitors, but most of the Newfoundland classifieds are businesses from outside of the area targeting Newfoundlanders. Corner Brook Classifieds which targets just western Newfoundland with its free classified ads, appears to have a much smaller user group posting but a massive readership in its classified ads.
What happens in the next few months will be extremely interesting with respect to these free classified ad systems. Will they continue to bleed members or will there be an increase?
